Borrowing Privileges
Yeshiva University faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and staff who have registered at their campus library are eligible to borrow books and other materials from the Yeshiva University Libraries. All new students and faculty will automatically have a library account created for them.
Please note: All library users must present a valid YU ID card with current academic semester validation to borrow materials.
Loan Periods
Hedi Steinberg Library
- Books: Faculty & Ph.D. students: 150 Days. All others: 28 Days.
- Audiocassettes: 3 Days
- Audio CDs: 3 Days
- Videos & DVDs: 3 Days
Mendel Gottesman Library
- Books: Faculty & Ph.D. students: 150 Days. All others: 28 Days.
- Audiocassettes: In-Library use only
Pollack Library - Landowne Bloom
- Books: Faculty & Ph.D. students: 150 Days. All others: 28 Days.
- Audio CDs: In library use only
- Videos & DVDs: 2 hours and overnight
Renewals
Library materials that have not been requested by another patron may be renewed twice in person or online. To renew online click on the Account button on the YULIS Catalog page and proceed from there. If you owe a fine of $2.00 or more, or have a book overdue for 30 days or more, or have 10 or more overdue books you must clear your account in person before you may renew library materials. You will not be able to renew online.
How to renew books online:
- library.yu.edu
- Under SERVICES: Click on: MY YULIS ACCOUNT
- Enter: Username (The Barcode Number on Your ID)
- Enter: Password (Barcode Number for faculty and students, others use password supplied when account created)
- Click on the CHECKED-OUT tab
- Check the boxes under: SELECT FOR RENEWAL
- Click on: RENEW (Note the new due date.)
Overdue Fines & Lost Library Materials
10 cents per day per item up to a maximum of $10.00.
If a library item is lost, long overdue or damaged beyond repair, the patron will be billed for its replacement and a processing fee of $5.00 will be charged.
Mail Delivery Service for online and Ph.D. students
- This service is for online graduate students, all Ph.D. students, and faculty members living in US and 25 miles or more away from campus or having physical limitations that prevent traveling to campus.
- Not for reserve, ILL books or other non-circulating materials.
- Regular borrowing policies apply.
- There is a limit of five items borrowed via mail delivery at any one time.
- A pre-paid UPS return label will be included in the package.
