- Flavor symmetry of the high-energy world does not work as expectedThis link opens in a new windowMay 8, 2025In collisions of argon and scandium atomic nuclei, scientists from the international NA61/SHINE experiment have observed a clear anomaly indicative of a violation of one of the most important symmetries of the quark world: the approximate flavor symmetry between up and down quarks.
- ALICE detects the conversion of lead into gold at the Large Hadron ColliderThis link opens in a new windowMay 8, 2025In a paper published in Physical Review C, the ALICE collaboration reports measurements that quantify the transmutation of lead into gold in CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
- NASA telescopes tune into a black hole prelude and fugueThis link opens in a new windowMay 8, 2025NASA has released three new pieces of cosmic sound that are associated with the densest and darkest members of our universe: black holes. These scientific productions are sonifications—or translations into sound—of data collected by NASA telescopes in space, including the Chandra X-ray Observatory, James Webb Space Telescope, and Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE).
- Hubble pinpoints roaming massive black holeThis link opens in a new windowMay 8, 2025Like a scene out of a sci-fi movie, astronomers using NASA telescopes have found "Space Jaws." Lurking 600 million light-years away, within the inky black depths between stars, there is an invisible monster gulping down any wayward star that plummets toward it. The sneaky black hole betrayed its presence in a newly identified tidal disruption event (TDE) where a hapless star was ripped apart and swallowed in a spectacular burst of radiation.
- Advancing electrocatalyst discovery through the lens of data scienceThis link opens in a new windowMay 8, 2025Data science has revolutionized the hunt for high-performing catalysts, enabling scientists to quickly identify and test suitable materials.
- New discovery shows how molecules can mute heat like musicThis link opens in a new windowMay 7, 2025Using a thermal sensor smaller than a grain of sand, engineers have measured the vibrations, or phonons, within individual molecules.
- National Engineering & Construction Recruitment ExhibitionThis link opens in a new windowFeb 22, 2018Exhibition: 20 Apr 2018 - 21 Apr 2018, NEC, Birmingham, United Kingdom.

YU Library Science Databases and Journals
The YU Library databases, accessed from the YU Library home page, have subdivisions by discipline. To access subject databases:
- Click on the "Databases" tab on the YU Library home page (shown to the right)
- Click on "Full List of Databases"
- Click on "All Subjects" from the pull down menu
- Choose "General Science, Mathematics, and Technology" or "Life Sciences, Psychology, and Health" to access a list of YU's databases specific to those sciences
To access scientific journals:
- Click on the "Journals" tab on the YU Library home page (shown to the right)
- Type in a journal title, subject, publisher, or ISSN- this will bring up all of the journals to which YU subscribes on that subject
