PLP@YU: PLP FAQs

Yeshiva University's Personal Librarian Program

What is a PL?

A PL works individually with a student or group of students to provide research guidance tailored to their particular needs.

The PL and student discuss the research goals for an assignment or paper. The PL then recommends online and print resources in the YU Libraries and advises how to obtain outside sources, as well as how to integrate and cite sources.

Several personal librarians have already met with thesis students enrolled in the Honors Programs on both Wilf and Beren Campuses.

How can a PL help me?

Your PL will help you:

  • Identify and access relevant resources for your research assignments/papers.
  • Cite your sources properly
  • Locate materials held by other libraries

Your PL will not:

  • Do your research
  • Write or edit your paper
  • Replace your advisor's roles

How do I get a PL?

If you are an honors thesis student, a PL will be assigned to you and will contact you by email (with a cc to your advisor).

To contact us directly about the PLP, click the ASK THE LIBRARY tab above (in this guide), or the ASK US link on the library home page.
