Electronic Reserves

What are Electronic Reserves?

  • Secure access to digital materials on your own course page.
  • You will provide students with the course page password.
  • We will remove pages from the system two weeks following the end of the semester.**

**If students completing the coursework will require access beyond two weeks past the end of the semester, please contact eres@yu.edu.

Physical Reserves

What are Physical Reserves?

  • Hardcopy resources--owned by the library or professor-provided--kept at the library Reserve Desk at your campus.
  • Your students will have access to these items, but it's limited so that all students have access.*

*Available for in-library use for 2-hours, or overnight if they make their request within ½ hour of Reserve Desk closing time.

How do I Access E-Reserve Articles?

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Search the system by department abbreviation, course number/name, or instructor.
  2. Enter the course E-reserves password your professor handed out. No password is needed if linked from the Canvas course page.
  3. Locate the pdf files or links assigned by your professor.

How do I Access Physical Reserves?

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Go to "Reserves Search" in the YULIS Library Catalog (link above)
  2. Search the system by department abbreviation, course number/name, instructor, or title of the book.
  3. Write down the Call Number of the book.
  4. Bring the Call Number and your YU One Card with you to retrieve the book.
    • Stern: Reserve Desk, North Wing
    • Pollack / Gottesman: Circulation Desk, 2nd floor
    • Gottesman non-course related reserves: Reference Desk, 5th floor

Reserve books have a 2-hour loan period for in-library use only.

Find Materials Your Professor put "On Reserve"

Reserve Articles, etc. (Electronic)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Go to E-Reserves (link above)

2. If you are off-campus or in the dorms, log in using the instructions below.

3. Search the system by department abbreviation, course number/name, or instructor.

4. Enter the course E-reserves password your professor handed out.

5. Locate the links or pdf files assigned by your professor.

 

 

 

Reserve Books, etc. (Print)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Go to "Reserves Search" in the YULIS Library Catalog (link above)

2. Search the system by department abbreviation, course number/name, instructor, or title of the book.

3. Write down the Call Number of the book.

4. Bring the Call Number and your YU ID with you to retrieve the book:

  • Stern: Reserve Desk, North Wing
  • Pollack / Gottesman: Circulation Desk, 2nd floor
  • Gottesman non-course related reserves: Reference Desk, 5th floor

Reserve books have a 2-hour loan period for in-library use only.

Overdue fines are 25 cents per hour per item.
